One Voice Press to Publish Canadian Poet
One Voice Press has acquired rights to a volume of poetry and short fiction by Canadian poet David Erickson. Titled The Flower at the End of the World, the work is Erickson's first book and will be One Voice Press's first release.
The Flower at the End of the World contains a selection of long and short poems, a dramatic work in the form of poetry titled "Seven Years", and the short story "The Cauldron". The collection contains a considerable portion of Erickson's writing, spanning a period of 43 years. Although some of his poetry has appeared in anthologies published by the Ottawa Creative Writer's Group and the Association for Baha'i Studies, this will be Erickson's first book.
"The body of my work is concerned with questioning the reality of the world," Erickson says. "I see an invisible and therefore spiritual reality that is behind or beyond and yet within all things, and it is this spiritual reality which is the source of the unity of both the human world and the universe."
One Voice Press is targeting a July release for the book. The company, based in Essex, Maryland, was formed less than a year ago and has been working towards publication of up to three titles in 2011. "This is a milestone for us," says company president Dale Lehman. "In spite of the tough economy, we've made good progress and have learned a lot. We're fortunate to have a work of this caliber as our first release."
