A Year Ends, A Year Begins

For Kathy and I, 2011 was another in a series of years with a lot of personal ups and downs. But for One Voice Press, it has been a great year all around.

Our first full year of operation saw the publication of our first two titles, both of which represented the culmination of decades of work by their authors: The Flower at the End of the World by David Erickson and Return to Tyendinaga: The Story of Jim and Melba Loft, Baha'i Pioneers by Evelyn Loft Watts and Patricia Verge. Also, David and his wife Belinda came to Baltimore for a book signing in October and held a couple of events in South Carolina.

These books and the associated events are the end result of our work over the past year, but they are not the only result. Along the way we've learned a great deal about publishing and about operating a business, and have established a solid foundation upon which to build our future.

In 2012 we plan to bring you three or four new titles, most likely including a new collection of our own essays from Planet Baha'i (all freshly edited and several significantly rewritten), some young adult fiction, and the memoirs of a Baha'i travel-teacher. We are also always on the look-out for new material, so we invite the writers in the audience to have a look at our submission guidelines and let us know if you are working on something that might interest us.

We would like to take a moment to give our special thanks to our friend and cover artist Michelle Fairbarns and to the the good folks at Victor Graphics ("the Pineapple People") who didn't merely print our books but also took the time to help us understand what we were doing. When you pick up a copy of one of our books, you are holding their work in your hands as well as that of our authors.

Finally, we would like to thank you, our customers and well-wishers. We sincerely appreciate your support in getting our company off the ground, and we know that with your continued support 2012 will be an even bigger success!
